MONTHLY HIGHLIGHTS

June 2005

We have had a great month here at Arlington and at Churchill. We ran 14 horses for 4 wins and 10 finishing in the money. We started out the month with Runaway Cat blowing away her competition and winning by 8 lengths. She was a 1/5 off the track record. This young filly will surely have a stakes win somewhere in her future! Stan Fulton's Unbridle Danz wins first out on the turf going a mile 1/16th. She has trained beautifully and ran as we hoped she would. The effort was impressive for a first timer and caught the eye of many handicappers. She wont be a price next out! Zahira ships into Churchill Downs for her return from a lengthy layoff. She did not disappoint and won with authority over a salty maiden bunch. Thanks to the patience of her owner Scott Urban we a were able to get her 110% and she ran like it. At the end of the month Bavarian Stable's Bavarian Baron gets an allowance win on the turf at Arlington. He now has won on both dirt and turf. This talented runner is just beginning to find his best form. Dirt or turf keep a lookout for him.

We finished out the month with a 29% win average and a stunning 71% in the money. We are rolling now and with barn full of some promising runners July should be as good!

May 31 2005

The barn moved successfully to Arlington, and all of us are settling into the peaceful barn area in great shape. It was great to get back to one of the most beautiful race tracks in the country. Horses train beautifully on the huge 1 1/8 mile track. As most of us were settling in, Whatsitgonnatake destroys a field of maidens at Hawthorne. Our first runners at Arlington, Bavarian Baron and Runaway Cat, put in good promising runs and set the stage for out our blow out winners at the end of the month. Strong Cat showed he had courage splitting horses and extending his win margin to 2 length in the final 1/16th. The following day Johns Place returns from a 7 month layoff to score a convincing win in allowance company. Meanwhile at Churchill Chachacharlie runs a huge second his first time on the turf. Back at the barn we have many two year olds training forwardly and showing lots of promise. We are looking forward to a great summer with both our seasoned runners and our two year olds.

April 30 2005

It is always great to ship north to the beautiful grounds of Keeneland. The horses love the brisk, sometimes downright cold, mornings that are characteristic of Keeneland. We started out the meet with a well-deserved win with Bavarian Baron in a maiden race. Through the patience of his connections we were able to get him right and he was absolutely brilliant in his win. There are few tracks in the thoroughbred world that can compare to a win at Keeneland. We wound down the month with Captain Correlli blowing away a 3yr old allowance field. Ridden by Edgar Prado he won with an authoritive hand ride. Every time our horses win here at Keeneland we understand what an accomplishment it is. It is definitely one of the toughest places to win a race in the country and we are very pleased to have yet another good showing here.

October 2004

Rebecca Maker Racing Stable continues to maintain their win percentage at an incredible 35% through the month of October. The month started off with a bang at Keeneland as Follow the Cat breaks his maiden going a 1 1/8 miles for the first time on dirt earning a career high Beyer of 90. Johns Place makes it two for two under Rebecca's care, winning a $50,000 claiming race. They finished up the meet sending out Chachacharlie in a strong 2X allowance field. This former $30,000 claimer wires the field and runs an all time high Beyer of 103! Chachacharlie is now on a 4 race win streak. Other impressive winners include Galactic Cat at Hawthorne who toyed with her opponents and graduated through her 1X allowance condition. She later in the month ran 3rd in a $60,000 stake at the Meadowlands. The only filly in the race to come from off the pace and finish strong, she got beat for 2nd by a nose. Runswithscissors found the winners circle at Hoosier Park. He circled the field and won going away earning his second career best beyer.

The barn is looking forward to Churchill and the opportunity to run some of their promising 2 year olds that have not yet started. The whole staff is working diligently to maintain their impressive stats.

September 2004

Becky and her barn make an amazing entrance into the fall season as she goes on to win 6 of 17 starters. Aside from spending an impressive 35% of her time in the winners circle, it may be as impressive that she managed these wins with 6 different owners. First, Dare To Dream's 2 year old filly, Johns Place, breaks her maiden impressively at Arlington. Dogwood Stable's Thermostat wins his 2nd start in a row over at Turfway Park. Stan Fulton's Cherokee's Disco goes through her 3 other than allowance condition over Arlington's turf. Equirace.com's Captain Corelli turns heads with a very impressive maiden win at Arlington Park. Sanford Trust's 3 year old Cunning Cat breaks his maiden earning a 95 Beyer figure at Turfway. Closing out September, Mark Nicholas's Cha Cha Charlie wins an allowance event first time off the claim for Becky. This last win of September made a perfect 3 wins from 3 starts for the Maker Stable at Turfway Park Kentucky. Other races or mention go out to Galactic Cat who just missed in her debut stakes effort finishing 2nd and Thermostat who placed 3rd in the Prairie Meadows Derby. Becky's stable is poised to make a splash at Keeneland in October.

August 2004

The star of the month goes out to the Dogwood Stable's Thermostat. This late blooming son of Summer Squall just crushed his opponents in a nine furlong maiden special event by nine lengths. As the Arlington's meet begins to wind down, Becky maps out her next stop with her promising young stable to Louisville Kentucky for the fall meets of Keeneland and Churchill Downs.

July 2004

July sets off to another good month for the Maker stable as Becky saddles 4 winners from 17 starters. July 1st Becky sends Dogwood Stable's Departing Now over to Prairie Meadows for The Prairie Gold Juvenile Stakes. The 2 year old son of Wheaton accelerated down the stretch under Frank Lovato Jr. to win by a impressive 6 1/4 lengths in :57 flat. This notches Becky's 3rd stakes win for the year. Back at Arlington Park another winner for Dogwood Stable would include an impressive win by Stylishly on July 7th. The next day Dare To Dream's Captain Nicholas throws in a huge effort at a flat mile on the dirt in a $50,000 claiming event. Dare To Dream may have another up coming star as Galactic Cat, a 2 year old daughter of Forest Wildcat pounces 10 others in her debut 5 1/2 furlong maiden allowance race on July 29th at Arlington Park. Keep a look out these budding stars in August.

June 2004, part II

On June 19th, Becky saddled a pair of winners at Arlington Park, starting with Dogwood Stable's Color Me Gone. Later in the day the co-feature event would follow with Stan Fulton's Cherokee Disco winning the turf allowance wire to wire. Maker's stable rider, Frank Lovato Jr. would win four races on the day's card.

It would be a happy Father's Day for Mike and Allen Faber of The Dare To Dream Stable LLC and for jockey Frank Lovato, Jr.! Hats off to Becky Maker as she saddled up Sahmkindawonderful from an eight month layoff to win the $42,500 Double Delta Stakes before a crowd of 28,223 at Arlington Park. The lightly raced 3 year old daughter of Sahm would get up in the final strides to win on a turf labeled "good" while running the mile distance in 1:38.18.

The Maker, Lovato and the Dare To Dream team waste no time getting back into the winners' circle with Captain Nicholas on June 23rd. He would fend off all challenges down the stretch to win the $25,000 claiming event at a mile on the dirt.

July promises to be another exciting month with such promising runners such as Blue Sky Baby and Departing Now each heading for stakes races.

June 2004

Maker's move with her stable from the Keeneland back stretch over to Chicago's beautiful Arlington Park, all went smoothly. Rebecca is settling in nicely at her barn 20, and has wasted no time with picking up 2 winners within the first 10 days of racing with 9 starters. May 27th, Dogwood Stable's, Wheaty, and May 28th, Thomas H. Pearson's Gambol start the Arlington meet off as winners. With given 26 stalls from last years 18, Arlington's Chief Officer of racing, Frank Gabriel has welcomed Maker's stable back with open arms. Last year was Rebecca's first meet training at Arlington where she not only proved her self as a high percentage trainer, but also would go on to receive Arlington's Rising Star award.

One of Makers own rising stars may be a 2 year old gelding named Departing Now. The son of Wheaton, Departing Now's impressive maiden Victory April 22nd at Keeneland would earn the interest and result in the purchase by Cothran Campbell's Dogwood Stable from New Episode Farm. Departing Now will make his first start in the Dogwood silks at Belmont Park June 4th in the Flash Stakes.

Sanfort Trust's stakes winning mare, Blue Sky Baby is scheduled to make her next start, June 12th in the Estrapade Handicap turf at Arlington Park.

May 2004

Keeneland's spring meet was a great success for the Rebecca Maker Racing Stable. Located at barn # 1, Rebecca won 3 of her 7 starters. April 21st, Cherokee Prospect which Rebecca claimed for 10,000 at the Fairgrounds for first time owner Mark Nickolas, wins at the 25,000 claiming level. That same day, Dare To Dreams Stable's, Wall Street Afleet would go on to win a maiden allowance race. April 22, New Episode Farm's Departing Now, a 2 year old son of Wheaton, makes his debut with an impressive 6 1/2 length victory. Rebecca also would ship Sanfort Trust's, Blue Sky Baby to win The Nichole Stakes at Hawthorne Race Course.
